Guided by the laboratory staff, the group first toured the Eco-Art Exhibition Zone, where installations such as the Recycled Wood-Plastic Corridor, Green Hercules sculpture, New Energy Wheel, and Rebirth: The Everlasting Cycle integrated visual and tactile experiences to vividly express the green development philosophy that “Limited Resources, Unlimited Recycling.”
Lead instructor Fahny Ardian remarked, “The tangible art makes abstract environmental concepts accessible, while the intangible bridge connects hearts across cultures. GEM’s practices have added a touching chapter to the global narrative of sustainable development.”

The delegation then visited the exhibition hall and research centers to gain a comprehensive understanding of the laboratory’s background, development process, research directions, talent cultivation mechanisms, and achievements in patent development. They also toured more than 300 sets of advanced instruments and facilities covering the full research and development process of metallurgy and new energy materials. The students showed great interest in platforms and instruments such as the Central Control System, Smart Terminals, EPMA, SEM, EHF, and LA-ICP-MS, expressing their eagerness to utilize the laboratory’s resources in future research projects to enhance their scientific capabilities and contribute to Indonesia’s technological advancement in new energy materials and metallurgical engineering.

To ensure a comfortable and inclusive environment, the laboratory has also established a prayer room and multifunctional academic exchange area specially designed for Indonesian students and faculty, demonstrating deep respect for local religious and cultural traditions an effort widely praised by visitors. As Mr. Ardian noted, “The lasting strength of technological cooperation stems from respect for each other’s culture and faith. Details such as the prayer room build a sense of shared values beyond technology and lay the foundation of trust for the long-term success of the Belt and Road Initiative.”
At the conclusion of the visit, the students and faculty expressed their appreciation for Professor Xu Kaihua, Chairman of GEM, for his significant contributions to advancing scientific and cultural cooperation between China and Indonesia. They agreed that the visit not only showcased the laboratory’s advanced facilities and innovation capabilities but also inspired a renewed sense of scientific mission and national service. With this high-level collaborative platform, they believe Indonesia’s new energy materials and metallurgical engineering sectors will embrace an even brighter future.
