QMB (PT. QMB NEW ENERGY MATERIALS) in Indonesia is jointly established by Chinese companies GEM (63% of the shares), Tsingshan (accounting for 10% of the shares), Brunp (member of CATL, 10% of the shares), ECOPRO of South Korea( 9% of the shares) and Hanwa of Japan (8% of the shares). The company is dedicated to produce new energy raw materials such as nickel, cobalt and manganese from laterite nickel ore directly, advocating the ideal of nickel resource industry of "putting in laterite nickel ore and refining battery materials", providing green, low-carbon and sustainable nickel-cobalt-manganese raw materials for the global new energy battery industry.

The company is located in Qingshan Park, China-Indonesia Comprehensive Industrial Park, Morowali, Central Sulawesi Province, Republic of Indonesia, covering an area of 1,070 mu, with a planned total investment of nearly US$1.6 billion. After the project is completed, the total annual output of nickel metal will be 96,000 tons. The project has completed the first phase of the project with an annual output of 30,000 tons of nickel metal, and the second phase of the project with an annual output of 66,000 tons of nickel metal is under planning and designing. It is expected to be completed by the end of 2023. The project is independently designed with the concept of "technology, intelligence and green". It uses advanced third-generation HPAL technology to treat low-grade lateritic nickel ore (containing 0.8-1.4% nickel) which is not used in pyrotechnics (RKEF and high matte nickel process routes) ), producing mixed nickel hydroxide cobalt manganese intermediate product (MHP) and high-purity nickel cobalt manganese sulfate crystals. It uses nickel cobalt manganese raw materials in low-grade laterite nickel ore comprehensively, meanwhile, saves nickel cobalt manganese resources. To compare with the pyrotechnics, This HPAL technology has significantly lower emissions, which is considered green and low-carbon. The project implements complete safe and green disposal of waste water, waste gas and waste residue, promotes recycling, energy conservation and emission reduction, implements clean production throughout the process, and builds a world-class green and intelligent manufacturing plant for nickel resources. It is praised by the Indonesian government as a highlight project as famous as the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway. The company has established an advanced laterite nickel ore hydrometallurgy and new energy material engineering technology research center equipped with world-class scientific research instruments to develop comprehensive utilization technologies for various complex and low-grade laterite nickel ore, and to develop low-carbon green nickel-cobalt raw materials and materials, providing green nickel-cobalt raw materials for global new energy development. The first world-class nickel resources industrial museum in Indonesia has been built, which historically reproduces the 28th element of the periodic table, nickel, from the ancient nickel coin to the century-old change that drives new energy vehicles, highlighting the magnificent trend of electrification of Indonesia and the development of new energy in the world! The company adheres to the humanistic concept of "integrated development of industry, technology, and culture, and jointly builds a green Belt and Road", uses green mineral raw materials, deeply practices ESG values, and promotes the harmonious development of green production, green products, and social responsibility.

“May we dance together with nickel and move towards a green future”
