On December 28, 2001, Professor Xu Kaihua, Founder of GEM, established the Company in Shenzhen based on the green ideal of “Green-Eco-Manufacture”. The Ideal Company is established in Shenzhen, listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange (Stock Code: 002340) and the Swiss Stock Exchange, with a total share capital of 5, 136 billion, net assets of RMB 1 billion, annual sales of over RMB 30 billion and a total of more than 10,000 employees. GEM is the proponent of the industrial concept of “Limited Resources, Unlimited Recycling”, the pioneer of Urban Mining in China and the promoter of the global new energy industry. We are the leading recycling group all over the world, and the core supplier of the global new energy industry. Over the past 20 years, we have invested a total of RMB 20 billion to build 19 recycling factories and new energy material manufacturing factories, across 11 provinces and cities in China, as well as in South Africa, South Korea, Indonesia and other places. Our business has expanded globally, covering 40 countries in China and has established the cooperation of waste treatment with more than 500 million people.

20 years of efforts for a green future, 20 years of amazing feats in recycling, 20 years of friendships worldwide.
We have worked tirelessly for "Eliminating Pollution, Recycling Resources" through thick and thin over the last two decades!
GEM recycles more than 30 kinds of scarce resources such as cobalt, nickel, lithium, copper, tungsten, gold, silver, palladium, rhodium, germanium, indium, and rare earth elements. We recycle and process more than 10% of China’s total waste Batteries and electronic waste, the recycled nickel resources account for 13% of raw nickel mined in China, while the recycled cobalt resources exceed 340% of China’s cobalt mining volume, The recycled tungsten resources account for over 6% of the original tungsten mining volume, making us largest tungsten resource recycling enterprise in China.
GEM has been successively awarded as a national honors such as National Pilot Enterprise for Circular Economy, International Demonstration Base for Circular Economy Education, National Ecological Environment Popular Science Base, National Environmental Education Social Practice Base for Primary and Secondary Schools, and National Green Factory, etc., and we have been honored with the National Electronic Waste Recycling Engineering Technology Research Center and the National Enterprise Technology Center, both of which are dual national-level innovation platforms. Additionally, we have received the National Science and Technology Progress Second Prize twice. Furthermore, we were awarded the “Global Circular Economy Transnational Enterprise Award” at Davos in 2018 and the “Paulson Sustainable Development Green Innovation Award” in 2020. Our success story has been featured in the prestigious international journal “NATURE” as a global waste recycling success case, contributing significantly to the development of a circular economy in China and fostering worldwide green growth.
In recent years, GEM has actively constructed a new energy full-lifecycle value chain model, encompassing “Battery Recycling, Resource Reformation, Material Reconstruction and Battery Pack Remanufacturing”, and we have established six power battery recycling and utilization centers in China and South Korea. The manufactured ternary "core" materials — ternary precursor materials — drive 15% of the world's new energy vehicles powered by ternary batteries. Additionally, the manufactured cobalt tricobalt tetroxide materials are used in 20% of the world’s mobile phones and 3C products, promoting the global transition of new energy from “green” to “greener” .

In Indonesia, GEM has built the “Technology + Intelligence + Green” nickel resource new energy raw material high-tech industrial park. The world's advanced innovation and research center on metallurgical engineering technology, and the world’s first nickel resource industrial museum, and cultivated a batch of mining engineering masters and other senior talents for Indonesia in cooperation with Central South University, which has become a highlight project of cultural exchange and cooperation between China and Indonesia.
In the future, GEM will uphold to the dual-track development strategy of “New Energy Materials Manufacturing + Urban Mining Exploration”, engaging with global upstream and downstream partners in the ESG value chain, we aim to promote global circularity, offering Chinese solutions and green contributions to the development of low carbon circular industries and new energy sectors worldwide!
