On October 20th , 2025, Professor Rakhmawati Farma from the Indonesian National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) led an academic delegation from Riau University (UNRI) and Semarang University (USM) to visit and exchange at the GEM–ITB–CSU China–Indonesia Joint Research Laboratory. The delegation was warmly received by Dr. Zhi Wenke, Deputy General Coordinator of the Joint Laboratory, together with all laboratory staff.

Accompanied by the research team, the delegation first toured the Environmental Art Exhibition Area. Installations such as the Recycled Plastic Wood Corridor, the “Green Hercules” Sculpture, New Energy Wheels, and the “Rebirth · Infinity” art piece presented the concept of “Limited Resources, Unlimited Recycling” in a tangible and visual form, earning high praise from the guests. Professor Rakhmawati Farma remarked that GEM’s integration of environmental philosophy into artistic expression transforms circular economy concepts into cultural practice, offering a replicable and promotable model for global sustainable development.

The delegation then visited the laboratory’s exhibition hall and research centers, where they observed over 300 sets of advanced instruments and equipment from multiple countries, covering the full R&D process of metallurgy and new energy materials. Highlights included Indonesia’s first Field Emission Electron Probe Microanalyzer (EPMA) and a 10L–1000L digital three-level innovation reactor system, showcasing the laboratory’s leading hardware configuration and research capacity. The delegation commended the facility as “Indonesia’s most comprehensive and highly digitalized hub for metallurgy and new energy materials research and testing.”

Notably, the laboratory’s dedicated prayer room and multifunctional academic exchange hall, designed especially for Indonesian students and staff, also received high recognition. Professor Rakhmawati Farma commented, “Such human-centered design not only reflects respect for religious culture but also adds a touch of human warmth to scientific collaboration infusing the Belt and Road Initiative with inclusiveness and mutual trust.”


This visit not only highlighted the Joint Laboratory’s strong research infrastructure and platform capabilities, but also embodied the shared humanistic values and aspirations in China–Indonesia scientific cooperation.
