Strategic Cooperation: QMB and Hasanuddin University's Faculty of Vocational Studies Sign MOU on Sustainability Mutualism for Indonesia's Next Generation Golden Era

Makassar, December 7, 2024 - QMB and the Faculty of Vocational Studies of Hasanuddin University (Unhas) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening the development of vocational education and creating employment opportunities for students and graduates of the Faculty of Vocational Studies of Unhas. This MoU is focused on increasing collaboration in various fields, especially for the Metallurgical Engineering Study Program. The agreement includes three main points, namely: Providing internship opportunities for lecturers and students of the Faculty of Vocational Studies, providing skilled labor for the needs of the company, and sending mentors from industry to support the teaching process on campus.

The signing ceremony which took place in Makassar was attended by representatives from 35 Unhas partner companies. These companies are part of a total of 211 industrial partners who have collaborated with the university, covering strategic sectors such as food, tourism, agriculture, and mineral processing. The signing of the MoU was led by the Vice Rector for Cooperation of Hasanuddin University, Prof. Dr. Eng. Adi Maulana, S.T., M.Phil., who in his speech conveyed Unhas' commitment to continue to strengthen cooperation with the industrial world to improve the quality of vocational education and ensure graduates are ready to compete in the world of work.

“We are very enthusiastic about this collaboration, which not only strengthens the relationship between education and industry but also opens up great opportunities for our students and graduates to contribute in strategic sectors,” said Prof. Adi Maulana. Hasanuddin University's Faculty of Vocational Studies, which was established in 2018, is a tangible manifestation of Hasanuddin University's commitment to producing a professional and skilled workforce in various fields. Hasanuddin University itself continues to show proud achievements at the national and international levels. Based on the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE WUR) 2023, Unhas is ranked sixth in Indonesia. In 2024, Unhas was also the only university in Sulawesi to be included in the list of the 24 best campuses in Indonesia according to THE WUR.

This collaboration is a strategic step that is expected to support the development of superior human resources in Eastern Indonesia and make a significant contribution to economic growth in strategic sectors, especially in the metallurgical sector, introducing real industrial conditions to lecturers and Unhas students and of course industrial partners who were present at the signing, this collaboration is one of the steps to support Multi International private companies in supporting in terms of opportunities to hone workforce skills and provide a real picture in the metallurgical sector industry.
