On February 22, 2024, the opening ceremony of the Mandarin Camp (Batch II) for China-Indonesia Joint New Energy Materials and Metallurgical Technology Engineering Training Program by GEM-CMMAI-CSU (hereinafter referred to as "Mandarin Camp") was held at GEM Jingmen Park International Training Center. Professor Xu Kaihua, Board Chairman of GEM, and Professor Wu Xiaofeng, Vice Dean of the School of Foreign Languages of Jingchu University of Technology, attended the opening ceremony. Teachers from Jingchu University of Technology, assistant teachers from GEM, and 28 students from Indonesia participating in the second batch of training also attended the opening ceremony.

Before the opening ceremony, a short movie on the outcomes of Chinese language learning was presented, vividly showing the 4-month Chinese language learning journey of the first batch of Mandarin Camp. A total of 51 students of the first batch of Chinese language trainees successfully passed the exam and received certificates of completion.

At the opening ceremony, Professor Wu Xiaofeng, as the head of the Chinese language training program at Jingchu University of Technology, introduced the lecturer team, curriculum, and training objectives of the second Chinese language crash course. Chen Xiaoqian, Deputy Director of GEM International Training Center, also introduced the class establishment model.

"It is truly a privilege to be able to study the best metallurgy in China." Speaking on behalf of all the students of the 3rd batch International Master Class of New Energy Materials and Metallurgical Technology Engineering Collaboration between GEM-CMMAI-CSU, Nyoman delivered his gratitude to Chairman Xu Kaihua and GEM for the extraordinary opportunity to pursue a master's degree in metallurgical engineering in China, and to witness first-hand the state-of-the-art metallurgical processes at GEM. Looking forward to the next three months of his Chinese learning journey, Bakari is excited that he and his classmates will learn Chinese in an "immersive" way, and by honing their language skills and learning metallurgy, they will strive to achieve higher academic performance, contribute to the development of metallurgy in Indonesia, further grow and develop with GEM.

"A timely snow promises a good harvest, Good Luck in the Year of the Dragon!" Xu Kaihua, Board Chairman of GEM, demonstrated the beauty of the Chinese language and the depth of Chinese culture to the Mandarin camp participants, and explained the importance of learning Chinese from three aspects. First, for "face" and honor. Pongajow Viola Dheena and Siburian Donny Marihot, participants of the 3rd Batch of GEM-CMMAI-CSU Joint International Metallurgical Engineering Master Training Program, have done well in the first batch of Chinese language training and have progressed very rapidly. They have made great progress and are proud of the rapid improvement in their Chinese language skills. The second is to learn better about metallurgy and new energy sources. Without mastering Chinese, it is impossible to have an in-depth exchange of ideas, and it is impossible to master real metallurgical technology. Third is to promote scientific and cultural exchanges between China and Indonesia, and promote cultural integration. Deep cultural exchanges start with language, and in deepening cooperation between China and Indonesia, more Indonesians who know Mandarin are needed to become a bridge to promote China-Indonesia cooperation.

After the opening ceremony, Chairman Xu Kaihua distributed carefully prepared learning materials and school supplies to the participants of the second batch of Mandarin camps, and then enjoyed the snowy scenery as well as took a group photo to commemorate this precious moment.
