On November 16, 2023, the First Conference on Sustainable Development of Chinese Public Enterprises (the "General Conference"), organized by the China Association for Public Company ("CAPCO"), was held in Beijing. The conference launching the "The Best ESG Practices of Public Company in 2023", and GEM was successfully selected and included in the nomination list of "The Best ESG Practices of Public Companies in China 2023", along with other award-winning companies such as China Mobile, Alibaba, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limit, State Grid Yingda Co., Ltd., Mengniu, and other prominent companies.

In order to fully demonstrate the outstanding ESG practices and characteristics of public companies, guide other companies to compare and learn from each other, and promote the enhancement of sustainable development value of public companies, CAPCO organized the collection and compilation of ESG application cases of public companies in 2023, and collected a total of 451 ESG application cases of public companies, focusing on the four dimensions of environment, society, governance, and comprehensive ESG practices.

Focusing on 13 topics such as carbon emission reduction, pollution emission and waste reduction, energy and resource utilization, 120 ESG best practice cases of public companies and 325 best practice cases were finally selected and compiled based on the "The Best ESG Practices of Public Company in 2023", which was officially released at the conference.

GEM has been selected as one of the "ESG Best Implementation of Public Enterprises in China in 2023" with the excellent implementation case of "Closed Loop Power Battery Life Cycle Value Chain - GLM Power Battery Recycling and Household Utilization", which falls under the topic of "Reducing Pollution and Waste Emission" in the environmental dimension.

GEM has been working to address the problems of the used power battery recycling industry, through basic theoretical research, technological equipment breakthroughs, engineering implementation, industrial application to achieve efficient and intelligent disassembly of used power batteries, step-by-step use and green recycling, to create a new energy full life cycle value chain of "used battery recycling - raw material remanufacturing - material remanufacturing - battery pack remanufacturing - reuse - step-by-step use". By 2022, GEM's power battery recycling and step-up utilisation business achieved operating revenue of RMB 622 million. A significant year-on-year increase of 312.60%; the recycled and dismantled power batteries reached 17,433 tons (2.10GWh), a year-on-year increase of 98.11%, accounting for more than 10% of the total dismantled power batteries in China, and the company's power battery laddering utilization products have entered the stage of large-scale marketing and commercialization.

In addition, the company has successively established a directional recycling model from the green scrap end to the green product end with Sunward Intelligent, Ruipu Lanjun Energy, Lantu Automobile, Mercedes-Benz China and CATL. Jointly create a battery passport to achieve sustainable development and help China and the world's new energy industry to develop in an environmentally friendly, low-carbon and standardized way.

In the future, GEM will continue to spread awareness of the ESG experience of China's public companies through ESG best practice cases, give full play to the demonstration of best practices, contribute to society with sustainable development, and make ESG management an important strategic support for leading enterprise reform, innovation, transformation and upgrading, and enhance the sustainable development capabilities of enterprises themselves, so as to build a solid foundation for sustainable development.
