On the morning of 3rd March 2015, Prof. Mostafa H. Kamel, the director of Basel Convention Regional Center (BCRC) for Training and Technology Transfer for the Arab States in Egypt who is the former director of Environmental Bureau in Egypt and Prof. Li Jinhui from Tsinghua University, the director of BCRC for Asia and the Pacific and the Hazardous Waste Management Training and Technology Transfer of National Environmental Protection Bureau, paid a visit to GEM (Tianjin) Resource Recycling Industrial Park. The leaders of Tianjin GEM warmly welcomed our guests and accompanied Urban Mining Museum, Information Monitoring Platform and ELV Green Dismantling Workshop.
Prof. Kamel and Prof. Li highly praised the antique electrical and electronic products, a series of scientific and technological environmental products as well as GEM’s achievements in the Urban Mining Museum. While viewing information monitoring platform, the leader of Tianjin GEM showed the real-time production situation in each GEM industrial park to Prof. Kamel and Prof. Li. Prof. Kamel expressed his appreciation for the concept of “making the environment-protection business as transparent as possible". Prof. Kamel and Prof. Li learned about the advanced concepts of ELV processing model of streamlined, mechanization, harmless, re-utilization, informatizational and educational, the global advanced ELV and motorbike dismantling equipments, and the normative and orderly dismantling procedure and environmental measures, through which convey GEM’s belief and mission of building a global respectable environment protection company.
Subsequently, Prof. Kamel and Prof. Li made a detail and cordial discussion with senior management personnel of Tianjin GEM on the topic of advanced technology in the field of waste materials recycling, the cooperation model between GEM and Samsung, Mitsui and other world famous enterprises, and the aspects of possible cooperation between GEM and BCRC for the Arab States region.
At the forum, the leader of Tianjin GEM made a detailed presentation about the basic information about GEM, explained the environmental philosophy and answered a series of questions which rose by Prof. Kamel. Prof. Kamel thanked GEM for its hospitality, highly appreciated GEM’s recycling industry, and expressed extreme great interest on the advanced technology of waste materials recycling, seeking a way of cooperation future investment etc. Prof. Li introduced the purpose of this trip in China and the function of BCRC. Prof. Kamel hoped there would be a future cooperation between GEM and BCRC for Arab States, to introduce the technology of waste recycling to developing countries in Arab and Asia-Pacific regions, and invited GEM to Egypt to visit and make an investment.
The leaders Tianjin GEM showed the willingness of the depth of cooperation with the BCRC, to jointly promote the great development and great fusion of the world"s circular economy.
