On 7^th June, 2014, chairman Yu Zhengsheng, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, the Chairman of CPPCC National Committee who was accompanied by Mr. Li Hongsheng, Secretary of Hubei Provincial Party Committee, Mr. Yang Song, the Chairman of Provincial CPPCC, Mr. Ruan Chengfa, a member of Provincial Standing Committee and Wuhan Municipal Party Committee Secretary, Mr. Fu Dehui, a member of Provincial Standing Committee, and the general secretary of Provincial Party committee and other provincial and municipal leaders paid a visit to GEM (Wuhan) Urban Mining Recycling Industrial Development Co., Ltd. Chairman Yu walked into electronic waste green processing workshops, witnessed the green processing line of electronic waste, made cordial conversations with the management and workers, and had a fully understanding the development of GEM and electronic waste recycling situation.

On 31^st May 2006 which was 8 years ago, Chairman Yu (who was a member of Political Bureau of the Central Committee and  the Secretary of the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee) visited Jingmen GEM Production Base, and encouraged GEM to strive for the best in the field of circular economy in China!

The chairman of GEM, Professor Xu Kaihua, seriously reported to Chairman Yu the footprints of GEM to become the best waste recycling enterprise of China in 8 years. Professor Xu Kaihua introduced that GEM developed from used batteries recycling base to the China’s largest and world’s top level base in recycling of rare metal, used batteries and E-waste, and also establish six recycling industrial parks including three core industrial chains of rare metal recycling, E-waste recycling and end-of-life vehicles (ELV) recycling. Along the exhibition gallery, Professor Xu Kaihua introduced the conditions of advanced recycling technology for E-waste, used batteries and rare metals, as well as some aspects of creative system, intellectual property right, and national engineering center to Chairman Yu in detail. Through the remote real-time information platform, Chairman Yu learned other industrial parks which located in Jingmen, Jiangxi and Henan. Chairman Yu carefully listened the report and cordially communicated with Professor Xu Kaihua. Chairman Yu was very pleasant when he heard that the cobalt and tungsten recycled from E-waste accounts huge in produced quantity of original mine in China; Rare metals such as gold and silver can also be recycled from printed circuit boards; GEM not only recycle and dismantle E-waste but also ultimately take advantage of waste to make recycled products, such as WPC (wood plastic composite) which made from waste plastics can be the substitute of wood, reduce overcut and emission of CO2, even owns better performances than normal wood. Chairman Yu gladly watch and praise when picking up the recycled products, such as WPC, tungsten powder, and recycled gold.

Chairman Xu Kaihua disclosed that the reason why GEM created a legend in the recycling industry in just eight years, one is relied on the innovated policies by Chinese government, especially the strong support from Hubei government and advantageous development environment of Hubei province; the other is relied on the promoting actively of capital market policies for small and medium-size enterprises. Chairman Xu Kaihua said the Chinese government allowed a waste-picker to go public which truly made GEM a leapfrog development in recycling industry.

Chairman Yu walked into the workshop, talked with the workers at the TV set disassembly lines. All staff were rejoiced and encouraged. Chairman Yu was watching with great interest how the workers separate the loudspeaker parts out of the TV set and picked up the parts carefully.

Chairman Yu was surprised at GEM’s development in eight years, and admired how great change and how advanced technology in waste processing GEM is.

Chairman Yu took great importance on how GEM and other non-public sectors of the economy realize transformation and upgrading. He emphasized that the way out for non-public sectors of the economy is transformation and upgrading as well as the motive force and the vitality. The enterprises should enhance the innovation capacity, promote the Industry-Academy-Research cooperation, and cultivate the innovative talent, and breed more competent and sustainable self-owned brands. Chairman Yu encouraged GEM to actively develop the energy-saving and environmental-friendly industries, and grasp chances and win initiatives in the industrial structural adjustment.
