On 20th, September, Mr Wu, chief of Environment Hygiene Department of Wuhan Urban Administrative Bureau, Mr Zeng, chief of Pollution Control Department of Wuhan Environmental Protection Agency, and Mr Yuan, director of Wuhan Commercial Bureau, visit the recycling industrial park of GEM with the companion of reporters from Hubei Television, Wuhan Television, Wuhan Morning News, Wuhan Evening News and Changjiang Business. The reporters have interviewed on the products, the exploiting pattern of “urban mines”, the procedures of recycling and processing used batteries, and the establishing of e-waste recycling network of GEM.

Under the cooperation of the government and the enterprise, the paid recycling pattern of used batteries based on recycling centers has won great acclaim form all sectors ever since its operation at the end of September, 2008. It has also generated the following positive effects: many enterprises take the initiative to sign for recycling; the opening of e-waste recycling centers; the installing of recycling boxes in citizen-friendly bicycle stations; the establishing of a highlighting urban project of “Green transportation—environment-friendly recycling”; and the successful advertising of Wood Plastic Composite—a product of e-waste recycling, in Wuhan Bureau of landscape and Forestry. To further reinforce the recycling of used batteries, Wuhan Urban Administrative Bureau, on the first anniversary of used-battery-recycling, enhances the publicity and education of environment protection through television, interviews and voluntary advertisements, which has a positive effect in raising the environmental awareness among the general public.
