On the morning of July 8, 2021, in the company of Wang Hongyao, deputy director of the Environment and Resource Protection Committee of the National People's Congress, Qiu Qiwen, vice minister of Ecology and Environment, as well as relevant leaders of Hubei Provincial People's Congress, Hubei Provincial Government, Wuhan Municipal People's Congress and Wuhuan Municipal Government, Wang Chen, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, visited GEM Wuhan Park and carried out law-enforcing inspection in accordance with the Law on Prevention and Control of Environmental Pollution by Solid Waste. Prof. Xu Kaihua, Board Chairman of GEM, warmly received the visiting guests.

Wang Chen inspected the scrap vehicle dismantling and scrap metal processing production line in GEM Wuhan Park and learned about GEM’s achievements in promoting resource recycling and the implementation of the Law on Prevention and Control of Environmental Pollution by Solid Waste. Board Chairman Xu Kaihua introduced GEM’s achievements in recycling and solid waste treatment in the past eight years after General Secretary Xi Jinping’s visit to GEM in 2013. He said that GEM always keeps in mind the instruction of General Secretary Xi and stays true to its initial intention, striving to become a pioneer in the green and low-carbon era. Holding fast to its green mission, GEM will resolutely implement the Law on Prevention and Control of Environmental Pollution by Solid Waste.

After listening to Xu's report and inspecting the production site, Wang fully affirmed GEM's low-carbon principle and its achievements and contributions in the fields of low carbon and solid waste management, and praised GEM for its vigor and passion as well as its performance of social responsibility, saying that with such a strong sense of responsibility, GEM will be bound to embrace a brighter future. "Turning waste into wealth through recycling is a promising sunrise industry as it complies with the need of the country. The government will give strong policy support and encourage enterprises to hold fast to their social responsibility and serve the country, the government and the people while making profits." He added.
