At&14:00p.m. on the afternoon of November 26,2021,Professor Satryo, the special advisor to Indonesian Coordinating Ministry for Maritime & Investment;Affairs, headed a delegation to visit GEM PT.QMB Nickel Project, aiming to learn about the progress of metallurgical engineering master’s course jointly sponsored by GEM, Central South University and Indonesian Coordinating Ministry for Maritime & Investment Affairs.

At first, Professor Satryo visited the project site, in particular the PT. QMB Experiment Center. General Manager Jiao Hua briefed the facts of PT.QMB nickel project in Indonesia. Then Dr. Xu Pengyun detailed the pilot test line for wet smelting of laterite nickel ore and the well-equipped small test laboratory. Professor Satryo asked some technical questions regarding the core and key equipment, and gave praises after learning all tests have used the GEM technical solutions with self-owned IPRs. He also showed admiration for the wet metallurgical test ability of the laboratory and for the painstaking spirit of all project team members in spite of the pandemic.

After the visit, Dr. Xu Pengyun reported to Professor Satryo the progress of metallurgical engineering master’s course jointly sponsored by GEM, Central South University and Indonesian Coordinating Ministry for Maritime & Investment Affairs, expressing the wish of GEM to work together with Indonesian Coordinating Ministry for Maritime & Investment Affairs to cultivate senior talents in metallurgy and grow up together with Indonesia people. Trainees in the course told Professor Satryo about their experience of study visit to GEM Jingmen Industrial Park and their practice in the project site, and introduced the laboratory plan of their research.

Professor Satryo and his colleagues expressed their gratitude to GEM for the high-quality teaching environment and resources. At the same time, they encouraged the trainees to do well experiments, complete the thesis defense, and strive to become the messenger of the friendship between China and Indonesia.

Before conclusion, the PT. QMB Indonesia nickel project team had a group photo with Professor Satryo and his colleagues. The two parties reached oral agreement to meet again when the trainees are attending the thesis defense.
