On December 19, 2021, the GEM 2021 postdoctoral station leaving report meeting and 2021 postdoctoral proposal report meeting were held at the GEM headquarters in Shenzhen. The event was attended by Professor Sun Xueliang, a foreign associate of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and academician of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and the Academy of Science of the Royal Society of Canada, and the tenured Chief Scientist of GEM New Energy Materials Super Technology, Professor Li Jinhui of Tsinghua University, Professor Liu Jianhong of Shenzhen University, Professor Guo Xueyi, the Vice President of Central South University, Professor Tian Qinghua of Central South University, Professor Jin Xianbo of Wuhan University, and Professor Jiang Hao of East China University of Technology. Sun Zhi, Researcher of Institute of CAS Process Engineering, Professor Xu Kaihua, GEM Chairman and others formed an expert assessment team. Professor Li Jinhui of Tsinghua University, as the leader of the assessment team, reviewed the station leaving research reports of four post-doctors, Xiao Li, Hua Wenchao, Shi Yang and He Rui, and the proposal reports of four post-doctors, Guo Qing, Huang Jian, Yang Jian and Chen Daoliang.

The assessment team put forward suggestions and revision suggestions for the post-doctoral station leaving reports and proposals report, agreeing that Xiao Li, Hua Wenchao, Shi Yang and He Rui would leave the station, determining their reports are all rated as excellent, and agreeing that Guo Qing, Huang Jian, Yang Jian and Chen Daoliang would open the report.

The experts spoke highly of the research of the four station-leaving post-doctors, believing that since the dual-carbon strategy was adopted, the new energy industry has developed rapidly, among which the market demand for ternary lithium-ion batteries is huge. Shi Yang and He Rui systematically studied the battery performance of relevant materials from ternary precursors and high nickel ternary materials, and the research contents are detailed and reliable; as platinum group metals of hydrogen fuel cell catalysts, Xiao Li and Hua Wenchao, two postdoctoral fellows, from waste materials recovery and fuel cell catalyst preparation, realized the recycling and re-manufacturing of waste resources, which is of great strategic significance. The four station-leaving postdoctoral topics are highly consistent with the company’s dual-track driving strategy of “new energy materials + mining urban mines”, which has established a good research foundation for the company.

As the post-doctoral instructor of the workstation, Chairman Xu Kaihua thanked the experts for attending the GEM post -doctoral report meeting online, and pointed out that enterprises are the main body of innovation. As a result, the corporate post-doctors function as an important part to strengthen the cooperation between enterprises and universities and colleges thus having great significance to promote the technological innovation system and capacity-building. He stressed that cooperation with major universities will be strengthened in the future, and thanked the relevant cooperative universities. GEM will continue to strengthen postdoctoral training, recruit and train a group of excellent postdoctoral talents, engage in R&D of cutting-edge core technologies in green industry, and help promote the high-quality development of China’s circular economy.
