On January 10, 2022, GEM and Yonfer officially signed the Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement on Industrial Chain Integration of New Energy Materials for Phoschemical Industry at the GEM (Jingmen) Recycling Industrial Park.

GEM is a core enterprise in the recycling of Ni-Co-Li resources, recycling and use of power cells, and the manufacturing of ternary precursors and cobaltosic oxide materials, and a world-leading green low-carbon enterprise. Yonfer is a head enterprise in the compound phosphate fertilizer industry, and has great industrial strength in phosphorus resource development. For the comprehensive strategic cooperation between GEM and Yonfer, the advantages of the both parties in phoschemical resources, material manufacturing and the power cell market have been combined. They have jointly invested in the new industrial chain for the new energy materials of the new “phosphorus resource-ferric phosphate” phoschemical industry, in order to build the full industrial chain for new energy materials of the new phoschemical industry with the global competitiveness and the concept of “phoschemical resources-lithium iron phosphate material manufacturing-power cell recycling and reuse”,  and to enhance the globally industrial influence and global core competitiveness of the both parties. According to the strategic cooperation frame agreement, from 2022 on, the both parties will jointly focus on building the basic capacities of “phosphorus resources, ferric phosphate and lithium iron phosphate” within two years, quickly construct the basic scale of the industrial chain with global competitiveness, and meet the basic demands of the industrial chain. Yonfer will take the lead in phosphorus resource development, and in the investment and construction of at least annual 1.5x105 t ferric phosphate materials and the associated basic phosphoric acid chemicals; GEM will lead the development of downstream markets, the manufacturing technology development of the lithium iron phosphate, and the construction of at least 1x105 t lithium iron phosphate materials.

At the beginning of the agreement signing ceremony, Prof. Xu Kaihua, Board Chairman of GEM, shared his feelings, and said that the cooperation destiny between GEM and Yonfer had been established as early as 18 years ago. On the momentum of the new energy era, GEM will cooperate with Yonfer for wider and deeper development in the new energy material industry. This cooperation indicates the industrial chain cooperation between the largest investment enterprise from the outside of Jingmen and the largest, most excellent local enterprise of Jingmen, and will be linked closely to the industry of a hundred billion in Jingmen, which will certainly push GEM forward quickly from circular development to low-carbon development.

Mr. Yang Caixue, the Chairman of the Board of Yonfer, specially thanked Chairman Xu Kaihua for his trust in Yonfer. Chairman Yang said, Yonfer was confident and determined to build the ferric phosphate project with the highest speed and the highest standard, and would cooperate with GEM in constructing the head enterprise in the new energy material industry so as to make more contributions to fulfilling Jingmen’s target of the power energy storage the industry of a hundred billion.

Li Wenzhen, the Deputy Mayor of Jingmen, on behalf of the municipal Party committee and the municipal government of Jingmen, extended warm congratulations to the strategic cooperation between GEM and Yonfer. He said, by the chance of this agreement signing, both the municipal Party committee and the municipal government would provide the project with most favorable policies and best service wholeheartedly for the faster construction and faster startup of the project.
