On June 16, 2022, the Graduation Ceremony of the first China-Indonesia joint training master class in Metallurgical Engineering of Central South University was held in Central South University, Sulawesi of Indonesia, and GEM. Prof. Guo Xueyi, Vice President of Central South University, Prof. Satryo, Senior Consultant of Indonesian Marine Affairs and Investment Department, Mr. Dwi Larso, Chairman of Education Endowment Foundation of Indonesia Prize, Prof. Xu Kaihua, Founder and Chairman of GEM Group attended the graduation ceremony online. They witnessed the fruit of China-Indonesia scientific and technological exchanges together.

On the ceremony, Professor Guo Xueyi, Vice President of Central South University, Professor Xu Kaihua, Chairman of GEM Group, Professor Satryo of Indonesian Marine Affairs and Investment Department, and Mr. Dwi Larso, Chairman of Indonesian Education Endowment Foundation delivered speeches respectively.

Professor Xu Kaihua said in his speech that global epidemic lasting three years once brought a severe test to the first China-Indonesia joint training master’s program in Metallurgical Engineering. Together with the graduates, managers of Indonesian Marine Affairs and Investment Department fought the epidemic united as one and made arduous efforts to overcome difficulties that didn’t occur even in a century. They wrote a splendid chapter of China-Indonesia scientific and cultural exchanges. These tough years proved that the worldwide epidemic can’t stop friendship and exchanges between different sides. The great changes in the world situation cannot stop the pace of working together towards a green and better future!

True friendship stands out in difficult times when they help each other. The Indonesian government, Central South University and GEM formed a sincere friendship during the epidemic, which is the confidence and guarantee to overcome all kinds of difficulties. With this confidence and guarantee, the three parties innovated training model and urgently set up an engineering laboratory on big K Island in Indonesia to make sure that graduates can successfully complete their graduation projects. They made the impossible possible and wrote scientific and technological papers on the beautiful land of Indonesia! They created the history of Sino-Indonesia scientific and technological exchanges and joint education together, which will surely be recorded in the long-standing history of Sino-Indonesia cooperation!

Professor Xu Kaihua warmly welcomed all the graduates to join QMB. He said with the engineering experimental center as a research platform, GEM Group will continue to develop the joint training class from “nothing” to “success” together with the Indonesian government and Central South University, make it an example of cooperative education of “One Belt One Road” by integrating into Indonesia and growing with the Indonesian people to better fulfill its corporate social responsibility and make more contributions to cultural exchanges, and the development of metallurgical technology and new energy in Indonesia.

At the same time, Professor Xu Kaihua put forward three expectations to the graduates. Firstly, make contributions to Indonesia and perform the world’s green mission on the Indonesian land with broad mind. Secondly, serve as messenger of China-Indonesia scientific and technological cultural and serve for cultural exchanges. Thirdly, to strive for the value and brilliance of life. He also hoped the graduates remember forever that GEM will always be their platform and GEM will always be their ladder to success!

Professor Guo Xueyi expressed his warm congratulations to the graduates and hoped they would adhere to noble conduct and create brilliant achievements worthy of the times. Professor Satryo expressed gratitude to Central South University and GEM for their efforts and expected the graduates to make positive contributions to the development of Indonesia’s metallurgical engineering and new energy industry. Mr. Dwi Larso said that the tripartite cooperation of “government, academia and industry’ is the best cooperation model and he wanted this cooperation to last for a long time.

Subsequently, College of Metallurgy and Environment of Central South University awarded degrees to the 2022 Indonesian International Class postgraduates. Ari, the representative of outstanding graduates, expressed his gratitude to GEM, Central South University and Indonesian Marine Affairs and Investment Department for providing study platform in his speech. He also expressed that he would live up to the expectations of Professor Xu Kaihua and the teachers of Central South University, give full play to the professional knowledge he had learned, work hard to promote the efficient utilization of laterite nickel ore resources in Indonesia, dedicate his strength to China-Indonesia scientific and cultural exchanges, and strive to realize the value of his life.

Three years ago, the first China-Indonesia joint training master class in Metallurgical Engineering was started, planting the seeds of friendship between China and Indonesia in scientific and technological exchanges. Now with the expectations and efforts of China and Indonesia, the seeds are coming out from the earth and will surely grow into a towering tree, which will become the mainstay of Indonesia’s development and a powerful force for China-Indonesia scientific and technological exchanges!
