On February 7, 2023, the list of 2022 Forbes China Top 50 Sustainable Industrial Enterprises was released. GEM was selected into the list for its outstanding performance in green manufacturing, carbon neutrality, sustainable development and ESG building, becoming a model industrial enterprise with high value for sustainable development in China. The honor also recognizes GEM's outstanding achievements in green  development.

From five dimensions: management system, technological innovation, comprehensive efficiency, resources allocation, demonstration and promotion, a jury with high credibility and authority in the field of sustainable development selected pioneering and model sustainable industrial enterprises of the year from industrial enterprises that have operated soundly for more than three years, achieved annual revenues of more than 10 billion yuan and not been involved in any major labor dispute or labor safety accident.

As a green and low-carbon enterprise, GEM has attached great importance to the construction of a sustainable development management system, built a sound management structure for sustainable development, established the Center for Carbon Peaking & Neutrality Strategy Research and ESG Brand Promotion, constantly promoted the upgrading and improvement of the corporate sustainable development management system, and achieved a slate of results: GEM was certified by the ISO14064 international standard in the carbon emission inspection in 2021, and received a carbon emission verification statement from a world-renowned certifying body; Wuhan Power Battery Recycling  Technology Co., Ltd., a zero carbon demonstration park built by GEM, was awarded a carbon neutrality verification statement by a world-renowned certifying body; GEM launched the carbon footprint certification for 10 products, to constantly enhance its product competitiveness…GEM has pursued green, low-carbon and sustainable development, to constantly enhance its corporate image and international influence!

In 2022, with green development as the basis, GEM forged into a new stage of "unleashing excessive production capacity and achieving substantial growth"; achieved fruitful results in the "Innovation Multiplier" program, won a number of national awards and governmental awards at all levels, and introduced its innovative technologies to the world, attracting global attention; GEM's Global Depository Receipts (GDRs) were successfully listed the SIX Swiss Exchange, making it one of the first Chinese listed companies to access the Swiss capital market, and creating a model for Chinese green enterprises to contribute Chinese solutions for the green development of Europe; as a highlight of Sino-Indonesian cooperation, the nickel resources project in Indonesia was shown to the heads of China and Indonesia along with Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Rail during the G20 Summit; GEM implemented the open-door policy for plant running, provided relief and assistance to the needy, and promoted deep cultural integration between China and Indonesia, to illuminate the Belt and Road, constantly expand the global promotion of ESG values, and show its sense of responsibility as a Chinese leading enterprise in terms of ESG!

To achieve carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, GEM has valued sustainable development as one of its major strategies, with its sustainable development recognized internationally and domestically. Among its green honors and titles won in 2022, GEM was ranked 8th on the "2021 Hurun China Private Companies SDG Readiness 100" list, and was selected into MIT Technology Review's 2021 list of "50 Smartest Companies" (TR50), the "Hang Seng China A Corporate Sustainability Benchmark Index Constituents" list, and Securities Times' "China's Top 100 Listed Companies by ESG" list.
