From March 3 to 4, 2025, the Chairman of ECOPRO, Lee Dong Chae, along with his delegation, visited QMB for an exchange of experiences. The visit was warmly welcomed by Professor Xu Kaihua, Chairman of GEM Group, and Mrs. Wang Min, one of GEM Group's key stakeholders and a board member.
Amidst a warm reception from both Indonesian and Chinese employees, Chairman Lee Dong Chae and his delegation visited the Nickel Industry Museum, where they learned about QMB development journey and conveyed their best wishes with the message, "It will surely grow and become even bigger." The guests were then invited to directly observe how QMB efficiently develops and utilizes nickel resources through advanced hydrometallurgical technology. The delegation also conducted an in-depth inspection of QMB employees’ living facilities and highly appreciated the company's commitment to sustainable development (ESG) and cultural integration.
On the following day, Chairman Lee Dong Chae and his delegation continued their visit to the Sambalagi area for an on-site survey. They received a comprehensive briefing on the development plans for the area, industrial chain layout, and future growth directions while jointly reviewing the vast prospects of the new energy materials industry.
During this occasion, Professor Xu Kaihua, Chairman of GEM Group, expressed his deep gratitude for the long-term support provided by Chairman Lee Dong Chae. He emphasized that over the years, both parties have maintained a mutually supportive relationship and have grown together, establishing an outstanding cooperation model between Chinese and South Korean companies. Despite various challenges and hardships, QMB has achieved remarkable global success through its technological advantages, superior product quality, and globally efficient cost-control strategies. This has positioned QMB as a world-class nickel hydrometallurgical plant that upholds the concept of "Technology + Innovation + Environmental Friendliness."
Chairman Lee Dong Chae expressed his admiration for the significant transformation and outstanding achievements of QMB, acknowledging that QMB has now become a key player in the global new energy materials industry. He hopes that, with the full support of Professor Xu Kaihua, both parties can continue to move forward together, deepen their cooperation, strengthen core competitiveness in the global cathode materials market, and drive the progress of the global new energy industry. Together, they are determined to build an industry alliance with world-class competitiveness!
Additionally, Indonesia Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Erick Thohir, personally led a cooperation meeting between GEM Group and ECOPRO. During the meeting, he emphasized that the expansion of cathode production capacity in Indonesia aligns with President Prabowo Subianto policy, which advocates for extending downstream industrial chains to increase the added value of domestic products. The Indonesian government hopes to become a crucial part of the global supply chain and play a strategic role in the global new energy materials industry.
