From March 2 to 4, 2023, M. Firdausi Manti, Director of Indonesia's Coordinating Ministry for Maritime and Investment Affairs, led a delegation to China to visit GEM Wuhan Park. Prof. Xu Kaihua, Board Chairman of GEM, warmly received him and his delegation in Wuhan known as a city of heroes in China.

The delegation first headed to Central South University (CSU) for a survey on the studies and lives of the 31 students on the 2nd CSU-CMMAI-GEM International Metallurgical Engineering Master Program.

On the afternoon of March 3, upon its arrival at GEM Wuhan Park, the delegation was warmly greeted by the management of the park. Then M. Firdausi Manti and his delegation visited the waste recycling station, the end-of-life vehicle disposal station, the electronic waste treatment station and the power battery re-manufacturing station in GEM Wuhan Park, as well as GEM Green Industry (Wuhan) Innovation Research Institute. "Is this circuit board wall very complicated?" "Were them disassembled and assembled item by item?" "Are all these ternary lithium-ion batteries recyclable?" "Where is the electronic waste from?" Dr. Song Huawei, Vice General Manager of Wuhan Power Battery Recycling Technology Co., Ltd. and Director of GEM Green Industry (Wuhan) Innovation Research Institute, resolved the guests' doubts by introducing in detail and demonstrating GEM's green industry and innovations.

On the night, Chairman Xu Kaihua hosted M. Firdausi Manti and his delegation along the East Lake, Wuhan, enjoying Chinese tea and the views of the lake with the guests.

"It is always a pleasure to greet friends from afar," said Chairman Xu Kaihua who was delighted at the arrival of M. Firdausi Manti and his delegation that have come all the way to China. The East Lake has been a tourist resort since ancient times, and hosting M. Firdausi Manti and his delegation along the lake shows GEM attached great importance to the Indonesian friends from afar.

As Hubei's largest private enterprise with investment in Indonesia, GEM has not only built seven research centers at home and abroad, including QMB Engineering Technology Research Center for Hydrometallurgy and New Energy Materials in Indonesia, but also has the best technical experts such as Dr. Zhang Yuping and Dr. Zhang Kun. As China's best university in metallurgical engineering, CSU has transferred a large number of senior technical talents, experts and scholars to the new energy industry. "The cooperation in training international high-level metallurgical technical talents by GEM, the Indonesian government and CSU is forming an alliance between a university and a corporate engineering experiment center, turning knowledge into products and library shelves into workshop shelves, and truly realizing the transformation from science to technology," said Chairman Xu Kaihua, expecting that the three sides would implement a "2+2" cooperation model (the students on the joint master program will spend two years at Indonesia's Bandung Institute of Technology and CSU each), in a joint bid to make the program a prolonged one.

During the tour, M. Firdausi Manti sang high praise for the tremendous innovation strength of GEM and the beautiful scenery of Wuhan, inviting Chairman Xu Kaihua to pose for pictures with him from time to time. Before the delegation left, witnessed by the beautiful spring, the two sides made an appointment to meet in Jakarta.

The visit of the delegation from Indonesia's Coordinating Ministry for Maritime and Investment Affairs to GEM and CSU not only made the Indonesian students on the joint master program keenly feel the care from their motherland, but also deepened Sino-Indonesian educational cooperation, promote the cultural integration between the two countries, and pushed forward the development of the program within a broader range and at a higher level, so as to create a highlight of Sino-Indonesian cooperation in the Belt and Road.

Yudi Saptono, Deputy Director of Train and Aircraft Industry, and Kemal Sinatra, Coordinator at Indonesia's Coordinating Ministry for  Maritime and Investment Affairs accompanied M. Firdausi Manti for the visit.
