Jingmen, 1 September 2026— GEM’s 2026 Fresh Graduate Elite Training Program officially concluded on August 28, marking the completion of a two-month training program attended by more than 180 newly recruited graduates from across China.

The graduation ceremony was held at the International Conference Hall of GEM’s Jingmen Industrial Park and attended by Wu Guangyuan, Deputy Secretary of the Jingmen Industrial Park Party Work Committee and Vice Chairman, and Dr. Zhang Kun, Director of the Jingmen Industrial Park and General Manager. Representatives and trainees from GEM’s International Green Industrial Park (IGIP) in Indonesia and Fu’an Park also participated in the ceremony via video link.

The program was designed to help fresh graduates transition from university to the workplace through a combination of classroom learning, practical training, study visits, team-building activities, and competitions.

The ceremony began with an awards presentation recognizing trainees who performed well in various activities throughout the program. Awards were presented for badminton, table tennis, knowledge contests, debate competitions, photography contests, final presentations, and outstanding teaching assistants.

The comprehensive training assessment also recognized three outstanding teams and 15 individual trainees.

Team “JQK” received the “Best Team” award after achieving the highest overall score, while Li Xiongbin, the class monitor of the elite training program, was named “Best Trainee” for achieving the highest individual score.

The awards recognized not only individual performance but also teamwork, communication, and participation throughout the two-month program.

From Classroom Learning to Industry Practice

During the ceremony, Zhang Ziyi, representative of the Outstanding Team, reflected on how the program helped trainees develop stronger teamwork and a better understanding of GEM’s circular economy business.

She highlighted the experience of participating in military training, study tours, internships, and other activities as important opportunities for trainees to build trust and learn to work toward shared goals.

According to Zhang, the program also helped bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industrial practice, giving trainees a more practical understanding of GEM’s “Limited Resources, Unlimited Recycling” philosophy.

Li Xiongbin, recipient of the “Best Trainee” award, also shared his reflections on the program. He described the experience in terms of three areas: integration, broadening horizons, and personal growth.

Through training and group activities, he said, participants who initially did not know one another developed stronger relationships and learned the value of collective effort. Study tours and practical training, meanwhile, provided opportunities to connect knowledge gained in the classroom with real-world industrial operations.

For Li, the most significant change was the transition from knowing what to do to being prepared to take on responsibility in the workplace.

“Graduation marks a new beginning,” Li said, expressing the trainees’ readiness to take on their respective responsibilities and contribute to GEM’s green and circular economy initiatives.

Dr. Zhu Pengfei, representing the doctoral trainee cohort, shared his experience of moving “from the lab to the production line.”

He explained that before joining the program, his understanding of resource recycling had largely been based on academic papers and experimental data. Visits to GEM’s industrial parks and production facilities gave him an opportunity to see firsthand how spent batteries can be processed and transformed into valuable resources.

The experience also reinforced his understanding that industrial research must go beyond laboratory results and address practical considerations such as safety, cost, product quality, and scalability.

Zhu said he hopes to continue conducting research that can be applied to GEM’s circular industrial chain and contribute to the company’s industrial development.

The ceremony also featured an oath-taking session led by Dr. Du Ke, during which the 2026 elite trainees reaffirmed their commitment as new members of GEM.

The trainees pledged to uphold professional ethics, fulfil their responsibilities, protect the company’s interests, contribute to pollution reduction and resource regeneration, and support the development of green and low-carbon industries.

The ceremony marked the trainees’ transition from the training program to their respective positions across GEM’s operations.

A New Chapter Begins

In his graduation address, Dr. Zhang Kun encouraged the trainees to connect their professional development with GEM’s long-term green development goals and to pursue their aspirations through their respective roles within the company.

He subsequently announced the official graduation of the 2026 Fresh Graduate Elite Training Program.

The ceremony concluded with the trainees singing “Green Dream · GEM Song,” reflecting the company’s emphasis on resource recycling, green development, and the circular economy.

Over the past two months, the trainees participated in classroom sessions, practical training, study tours, sports competitions, and team-building activities. The program provided them with opportunities to gain a broader understanding of GEM’s operations while developing professional and interpersonal skills.

With the completion of the program, more than 180 graduates will begin their respective careers across GEM’s operations. Equipped with new knowledge, practical experience, and a stronger understanding of the circular economy, they are now ready to begin their next chapter as members of the GEM team.
