Maumere, East Nusa Tenggara, 21 August 2026—PT QMB New Energy Materials, part of GEM’s operations in Indonesia, has delivered emergency relief assistance valued at approximately IDR 2 billion to communities affected by the magnitude 7.7 earthquake that struck East Nusa Tenggara on 15 August 2026.

Sikka Regency was among the areas affected by the earthquake, which caused damage to homes and public facilities. Ongoing aftershocks, disrupted access and shortages of essential supplies added to the challenges facing communities and emergency response teams in the aftermath of the disaster.

Following the earthquake, Professor Xu Kaihua, Chairman of GEM, closely monitored the situation and directed the company's overseas industrial parks to support disaster relief efforts. QMB subsequently mobilised emergency supplies and coordinated their delivery to the affected area.

The first batch of assistance included 4,500 kilograms of rice, 645 boxes of mineral water, 840 portions of cooking oil, 200 trays of eggs, 1,140 loaves of bread, 10 boxes of soap, nine boxes of shampoo, 5,372 packs of instant noodles and 20 boxes of diapers.

Following an assessment of needs at the local disaster response command centre, QMB organised a second delivery comprising 10 truckloads of emergency supplies. The second batch included 1,000 boxes of instant noodles, 5,000 boxes of drinking water, 50 boxes of cooking oil, 62 boxes of baby cereal, 1,000 boxes of snacks, 15 boxes of seasonings, 50 boxes of white tree oil, 23 boxes of baby gripe water, 200 boxes of sanitary products and 200 boxes of diapers.

The emergency assistance forms part of QMB's commitment to supporting communities in Indonesia and contributing to humanitarian response efforts during times of crisis.

The relief operation, carried out as Indonesia marked its 81st Independence Day, reflected the importance of solidarity and cooperation in responding to the needs of communities affected by the disaster. As the first Chinese-invested enterprise to participate in the earthquake relief efforts, QMB worked with local authorities and disaster response agencies to help ensure that essential supplies reached affected communities.

QMB will continue to monitor post-disaster response and recovery efforts and coordinate with local governments and relevant stakeholders to support affected communities as they recover and rebuild.
