GEM Holds 2026 Scholarship Ceremony for Employees’ Children

Jingmen, 20 August 2026 – GEM has recognized the achievements of employees’ children following the 2026 college entrance examination, with 66 students securing places at universities and other higher education institutions.


Among them, six students were admitted to universities under China’s “985 Project”, three to “211 Project” universities, and 57 to undergraduate institutions.


To celebrate their achievement and recognize their families' support, GEM held its 2026 “Green Dreams, Students Set Sail” Scholarship Award Ceremony at the Jingmen Industrial Park on 15 August 2026. GEM executives, scholarship recipients, and parent representatives attended the ceremony.

Opening the ceremony, Lu Xijin, Chairman of the Labor Union, congratulated the students on their achievements and their upcoming university journeys.


He said GEM’s work in transforming “urban mines” into valuable resources depends not only on technology and resources but also on developing talent. He noted that GEM’s “Golden Autumn Student Aid” program has been running for a full decade, expanding from several dozen recipients in its early years to several hundred today and from the Jingmen Industrial Park to GEM's industrial parks across China and overseas.


Lu encouraged the students to pursue their ambitions, develop their capabilities through diligent study, and remain grateful for the support they have received. He also expressed his hope that they would connect their personal aspirations with the broader needs of society.

Zhao Chen, daughter of Zhao Xiansheng, an employee in the Energy Operations Management Department at GEM Jingmen Industrial Park, spoke on behalf of her scholarship recipients. Zhao has been admitted to Harbin Institute of Technology.


She expressed her gratitude to GEM, saying the scholarship represented not only financial assistance but also the care and recognition of the GEM family. She acknowledged the role of her parents’ support and the company’s encouragement in her academic journey and said she would carry this gratitude into her university studies and future career.

Yan Zihong, son of Yan Pingping from the Raw Material Manufacturing Center of GEM Jingmen's Third District, also spoke as a student representative. He has been admitted to Beijing Normal University.


Reflecting on his upbringing, Yan spoke about his mother's dedication and companionship as a frontline employee of the company. He said her example had helped him understand the value of commitment in everyday work and strengthened his determination to study diligently, honor his parents and contribute to society in the future.

Li Hongde from GEM’s Hunan Industrial Park delivered remarks online as a parent representative. Having worked at GEM for eight years, he said the company’s long-standing commitment to the “Golden Autumn Student Aid” program demonstrated its emphasis on both industrial development and social responsibility.

Wang Wenzhao from QMB New Energy Materials Indonesia, GEM’s overseas operation, delivered his remarks via video link. Wang has been stationed in Indonesia for an extended period, while his son, Wang Junbo, was admitted to Shandong University this year.


He said the scholarship was an encouragement to his son and a source of motivation for employees working overseas. He added that the company’s support had given overseas employees greater peace of mind and strengthened their commitment to their work.

Dr. Sun Zhaojian, Assistant of General Manager, then shared his own academic journey, from Wuhan University of Technology to a combined master's and doctoral program at Tsinghua University.


Drawing on his experience, he offered three suggestions to the students. First, he encouraged them to regard university admission as a new starting point and develop the ability to learn independently. Second, he encouraged them to use their university years to explore their interests and identify areas they are passionate about. Third, he reminded them to approach important relationships with sincerity.


Dr Sun also expressed his hope that the students would consider contributing to the resource recycling and new energy materials industries after completing their studies and help advance GEM’s mission of “Limited Resources, Unlimited Recycling”.

Following the ceremony, the scholarship recipients and their parents visited the “Urban Mining” Museum at GEM’s National Circular Economy Education Demonstration Base. The visit introduced the students to GEM’s circular-economy model and its philosophy of “Limited Resources, Unlimited Recycling”, while giving them a closer look at the work and values shared by their parents.


The scholarship ceremony reflects GEM’s broader commitment to employee well-being, family support and social responsibility. Through the “Golden Autumn Student Aid” programme, the company has continued to support employees’ children in pursuing higher education while strengthening its connection with employee families.


Looking ahead, GEM will continue to uphold its ESG values of “Love the Earth, Love the Country, Love the Company, Love the Family”, support employee development and well-being, and contribute to the cultivation of talent for the green and circular economy.
