Publish Date:2026-04-22 Hits:7

Shenzhen, April 22, 2026 — The 57th World Earth Day marked a global moment of reflection and action under theme ‘Our Power, Our Planet’. In response, GEM reaffirmed its long-standing commitment to sustainability through concrete, on-the ground initiatives.

At GEM, Environment, Sustainability, and Governance (ESG) is not merely a reporting framework – it is embedded in our aspect of our business. From Jingmen, China, to QMB in Indonesia, and from laboratories to local communities, GEM's industrial parks worldwide carried out a series of Earth Day activities under the unifying theme: ‘Circularity is Power, Action Protects the Earth’.

Honoring the Earth –Making Circularity Tangible

GEM believes that the most impactful education comes through direct experience. By bringing the concept of circularity into the real-world system, GEM continues to create meaningful engagement with communities and young generations.

At the Jingmen Low-Carbon Industrial Park, the National Urban Mining Museum welcomed teachers and students from Mingquan Primary School. Through interactive experiments, e-waste collection, and puzzle-based challenges, students made green pledges while gaining first-hand exposure to resource generation.

At the Shenzhen Super Green Technology Research Institute, students from Class of 2025 Yun Jin 13 from Wen Hui School visited GEM's Shenzhen headquarters. They toured the Urban Mining Museum and R&D Center, gaining deeper insights into e-waste recycling and strengthening their understanding of the circular economy.

At the Wuhan Low-Carbon Circular Economy Industrial Park, students from Hubei University explored creative installations made from discarded auto parts transformed into ‘Transformers’. A green market place featuring item exchanges further demonstrated how circularity can be both practical and meaningful in everyday life.

At the Wuxi and Taixing industrial parks, immersive learning experiences ranged from early education on battery disposal for kindergarten students to demonstrations of battery recycling processes for primary school students – transforming abstract sustainability concepts into visible, tangible lessons.

Global Action – Advancing Green Communities Across Borders

In Indonesia, GEM through QMB News Energy Materials and International Green Industrial Park (IGIP) extends its sustainability commitment beyond industrial development by actively supporting local communities through education and practical engagement.

QMB conducted an educational visit to Bahodopi Middle School, where students explored renewable energy concepts through hands-on activities, including building waterwheel models.

IGIP collaborated with Morowali Regency Environmental Agency to deliver environmental training in Sambalagi and Were'ea villages. The program covered plastic reduction, pollution control, and resource recycling to 20 student representatives and 20 community residents.

From classrooms to villages, GEM's green initiatives have earned high recognition from local authorities. During the activities, the Morowali Regency Environmental Agency presented an honorary award to IGIP. The recognition validates GEM's environmental efforts and showcases the green commitment of Chinese enterprises along ‘the Belt and Road’.
