Bogotá, Colombia, April 23, 2026 — PT QMB New Energy Materials, a subsidiary of GEM Co., Ltd., participated in the A2D Facility Annual Event 2026 organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Bogotá, Colombia, from April 13–16, 2026.

The forum is part of UNIDO’s Accelerate-to-Demonstrate (A2D) Facility, which focuses on accelerating the commercialization of innovative climate solutions in developing countries.

At the event, QMB contributed to discussions on industrial decarbonization, particularly in the context of mineral processing and nickel downstreaming in Indonesia.

During the panel session, Ellin Victoria, Executive Director of QMB’s Jakarta Office, emphasized the critical role of the mineral processing sector in supporting the global transition to clean energy.

“The mineral processing industry plays a pivotal role in the global clean energy supply chain. However, building a responsible critical mineral value chain is not only about scale—it is also about how that growth is governed, implemented, and sustained over time,” said Ellin.

She further highlighted three key enablers of a responsible value chain: governance, technology, and talent development.

“In contexts where regulatory frameworks are still evolving, technology serves as a key enabler to ensure efficient and low-emission industrial practices, while talent development determines long-term sustainability,” she added.

As a nickel-based new energy materials company, QMB holds a strategic position in the electric vehicle battery supply chain. The company operates High Pressure Acid Leach (HPAL) facilities to process laterite nickel ore into Mixed Hydroxide Precipitate (MHP), a key raw material for EV battery production. This positions QMB as an integral part of the critical mineral’s ecosystem supporting energy transition and low-carbon industrial development.

She also noted that strengthening technological innovation—including optimizing HPAL-based processes—and increasing sustainable investment are essential to building a more efficient, competitive, and low-emission industrial system.

In parallel, QMB continues to expand its investment in local talent development. The company aims to cultivate 100 PhD-level engineers, 1,000 master’s-level engineers, and 10,000 technical professionals, and has trained over 260 master’s and doctoral students since 2019 through collaboration with the Indonesian government and Central South University.

QMB has also invested USD 30 million to establish a world-class engineering research laboratory at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), which has generated more than 50 research projects and 150 local patents, supporting talent development in metallurgy and new energy materials.

Participation in the A2D Facility Annual Event 2026 forms part of QMB’s broader strategy to expand international partnerships, facilitate knowledge exchange, and explore collaboration opportunities in low-carbon industrial solutions.

Through its active engagement in global forums, QMB reaffirms its commitment to advancing industrial decarbonization, strengthening the clean energy ecosystem, and supporting the transition toward a low-carbon economy.
