Wuhan, 31 December 2025—The Carbon Inclusive Emission Reductions from the End-of-Life Vehicle Recycling Project of GEM (Wuhan) Urban Mining Industrial Group Co., Ltd., were publicly announced on the official website of the Wuhan Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau.
This project has been issued a total of 89,222 tons of Carbon Inclusive Emission Reductions. It represents the first national batch of issued Carbon Inclusive Emission Reductions for end-of-life vehicles and marks the largest issuance volume to date in any local Carbon Inclusive market in China. This achievement signifies a major breakthrough for GEM in the field of carbon asset development.
▲ GEM’s Emission Reductions from End-of-Life Vehicle Recycling Publicly Announced
On June 17, 2025, the Wuhan Municipal Carbon Inclusive Methodology for End-of-Life Vehicle Recycling, spearheaded by GEM, successfully passed review and was publicly announced. Based on this methodology and leveraging its end-of-life vehicle recycling and dismantling operations in the Wuhan industrial park, GEM has successfully transformed the emission reductions generated from end-of-life vehicle recycling into tradable carbon assets. This accomplishment realizes a closed-loop practice encompassing “methodology development - emission reduction accounting - carbon asset issuance,” exemplifying GEM’s virtuous business model of “Emission Reduction - Efficiency Gain - Revenue Generation.”
The successful implementation of GEM’s End-of-Life Vehicle Carbon Inclusive Emission Reduction Project provides practical pathways and operational experience for the company to develop other emission reduction projects within the renewable resources sector. It enables the transformation of the company’s solid industrial advantages into tangible “green data assets,” further enhancing the economic value and green benefits of its circular business.
GEM is a pioneer in proposing the green industry philosophy of “Limited Resources, Unlimited Recycling.” By adopting the business model of “mining urban mines,” it aims to “Eliminate Waste, Recreate Resources.” The company has established comprehensive recycling industrial chains for critical mineral resources like nickel, cobalt, lithium, and tungsten, as well as for used batteries, e-waste, end-of-life vehicles, and waste plastics.
GEM is committed to continuously promoting waste reduction at source and resource utilization, mitigating the global greenhouse effect, and advancing carbon reduction and carbon neutrality.
Moving forward, leveraging its extensive technical and industrial expertise in resource recycling, the company will actively participate in the development of global carbon asset methodologies. It will strive to convert the carbon reductions from its circular businesses into internationally tradable carbon credits, thereby contributing to the national Dual Carbon Strategy and the global transition in addressing climate change.
