On October 29th, 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China announced the list of the 9th batch of National Manufacturing Single Champion Enterprises. GEM Co., Ltd. was successfully recognized as a National Manufacturing Single Champion Enterprise for its ternary precursor products. This achievement marks GEM’s third national-level honor, following the recognition of its “Ultrafine Cobalt Powder” in 2020 and “Cobalt Tetroxide” in 2024. GEM has now achieved a “Grand Slam” with three core products earning this prestigious title.

National Manufacturing Single Champion Enterprises are selected by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. These companies have consistently focused on specific sub-sectors of manufacturing, achieving international advanced levels in production technology or processes, and holding a leading global market share in their respective single products (or services). For GEM, this prestigious title not only serves as authoritative recognition of the company’s global leadership in its niche market but also represents the highest national acknowledgment of its technological innovation capabilities and industrial value.

The ternary precursor products that won this title embody GEM’s years of technological accumulation and innovation breakthroughs. The company has successfully overcome key technical challenges in producing next-generation high-end precursors, including ultra-high nickel ternary, high-nickel core-shell gradient concentration, cobalt-free “low nickel–medium nickel–high nickel” series, and multi-element doping for high voltage applications. In 2025, GEM began mass production and shipment of the world’s first ultra-high nickel 9-series quaternary core-shell precursor and ultra-high nickel 9-series core-shell ternary precursor, representing the highest technological achievement in the field of ternary precursor manufacturing globally. GEM has established precursor production bases in Jingmen, Fu’an, Taixing, and Indonesia, with a total annual production capacity of 250,000 tons. GEM ranks second in global market shipments of ternary precursor materials, with a market share exceeding 15%. Moreover, high-nickel/ultra-high nickel precursors hold more than 30% of the global market share, securing the number one position globally. GEM serves major clients such as CATL, ECOPRO, SAMSUNG, SK On, and LG, making it a key supplier driving the global new energy industry forward.

Looking back at GEM’s journey to becoming National Manufacturing Single Champions, each step has been a significant achievement. In December 2020, Jingmen GEM Co., Ltd. led the way by winning the fifth batch of Single Champion Product recognition for its “Ultrafine Cobalt Powder.” In March 2024, GEM (Jiangsu) Cobalt Industry Co., Ltd. earned the title again with its “Cobalt Tetroxide” product, earning a spot in the 8th batch of Manufacturing Single Champion Enterprises. Now, GEM Co., Ltd. has completed a “hat-trick” with its core product, the ternary precursor, joining the 9th batch of Manufacturing Single Champion Enterprises. From ultrafine cobalt powder, cobalt tetroxide to ternary precursors, GEM has successively placed three core products into the “champion club”, perfectly illustrating the company’s global leadership in three major application fields: power battery materials, 3C digital battery materials, and hard alloy materials, showcasing GEM’s world-class contribution to the global new energy and hard alloy sectors.
