On August 25, 2025, the inspection and review meeting for the SCORE project of GEM’s subsidiary QMB was grandly held. Dr. Zhang Xubiao, the director of the SCORE Institute of the International Labour Organization, and his team listened to the report on the implementation of the project, highly praised the project achievements, and presented the SCORE Enterprise Sustainable Development Certificate to QMB.

QMB passes the SCORE project inspection

The SCORE project (Sustaining Competitive and Responsible Enterprises), initiated by the International Labour Organization, has been successfully implemented in 24 countries around the world. Through fostering a work environment of respect, trust, and communication, the project enhances corporate productivity and sustainability, achieving a win-win outcome of both protecting employee rights and increasing business performance. During the nine-month SCORE project, QMB passed the assessment of four major modules: workplace collaboration, productivity and clean production, human resource management, and occupational health and safety. QMB is the Chinese overseas company that has completed the highest number of SCORE assessment modules.

In November 2024, QMB officially launched the SCORE project, pioneering the establishment of the EIT (Enterprise Improvement Team) at the Raw Material Feeding Center to initiate a management innovation pilot, which has since been gradually expanded to various production centers of QMB. Currently, QMB has built a diversified and comprehensive EIT structure, bringing together employees from both China and Indonesia with equal participation from both sides. Half of the team members come from the frontline production workforce, covering more than 5,000 employees. During the project period, the EIT teams submitted a total of 13,429 proposals, achieving a final implementation rate of 99.3%, with frontline employee participation reaching 87%. This has truly realized the goal of “full participation” in innovation, injecting endogenous momentum into QMB’s sustainable development.

Since the project was launched, QMB has created a series of outstanding practice cases from the bottom up, covering multiple fields such as production process optimization, energy conservation and consumption reduction, occupational health and safety, and human resource management. In the production process, QMB has significantly enhanced the efficiency of metal recycling through pipeline renovation. In the environmental governance center, through the upgrading of the process flow, the unit energy consumption of the products has been effectively reduced. At the security check gate leading to the production area, QMB set up a female-only channel, which not only increases the security check efficiency by 25%, but also creates a more comfortable and convenient commuting experience for female employees.

Since the launch of the SCORE project, QMB has achieved simultaneous improvements in production efficiency, product quality and energy efficiency. Among them, QMB has achieved a 35% year-on-year reduction in accident rates, a 54% increase in per capital output, and a 3% decrease in energy consumption per unit of product. In addition, the qualified transfer rate of in-process products has improved by 0.5 percentage points month-on-month, maintaining its leading position in the industry. In addition, QMB has significantly reduced safety risks by establishing a comprehensive human rights due diligence management system and a tiered occupational health and safety protection system. As a result, employee satisfaction increased from 84 points at the project's outset to 87 points, with a notable enhancement in employees’ sense of belonging to the company.

QMB’s successful passing of the SCORE project not only represents the recognition of GEM’s outstanding ESG achievements by the international mainstream evaluation system, but also marks a new milestone for Chinese overseas enterprises in advancing toward a more systematic and internationalized approach to ESG. This sets a valuable example for other Chinese enterprises going global, guiding the global development of ESG practices toward greater depth and broader impact.
