To deeply root the GEM’s philosophy of “Cultural Integration and Growing Together with Indonesia”, GEM has launched a “Thousand Talent” program to cultivate Indonesian youth backbone. This initiative aims to deepen the understanding of GEM’s global green industry among Indonesian youth, allowing them to experience China’s remarkable achievements in development. It also seeks to strengthen the unity and collaboration between Chinese and Indonesian employees, contributing to the new era of China-Indonesia cooperation. On June 23, 33 Indonesian youth backbone members from GEM’s QMB Industrial Park arrived at the Jingmen Industrial Park in Hubei for a study tour. Professor Xu Kaihua, Chairman of GEM, and Ms. Wang Min, Joint Ultimate Controller and Board Director of GEM, warmly invited over 60 participants, including the young backbone members, Indonesian students in Jingmen, and senior executives, to join them for dinner.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Indonesia, as well as the 70th anniversary of the Bandung Conference. Practical cooperation between the two countries has seen continuous new breakthroughs. On the morning of May 25, Premier Li Qiang of the State Council met with Indonesian President Prabowo in Jakarta, reaching a series of significant outcomes, including strengthening strategic alignment and deepening high-quality “Belt and Road” cooperation. The night before the meeting, the leaders of both countries visited the China-Indonesia Economic and Trade Cooperation Achievements Exhibition, where they observed two key projects: the ESG “World’s First Laterite Nickel Ore to New Energy Materials Full Industry Chain” project, with GEM providing technology and investment, and the GEM-funded “GEM-ITB-CSU China-Indonesia Joint Research Laboratory for New Energy Materials and Metallurgical Engineering Technology”.

As a global leader in the circular economy and new energy materials, GEM became the first Chinese company in China’s new energy sector to invest in Indonesia in September 2018, leading the way in transforming Indonesia’s nickel resources from traditional stainless steel smelting to a green, new energy-based model. Over the past eight years, GEM has consistently embraced the philosophy of “Industrial, Technological, and Cultural Integration Development, Growing Together with Indonesia.” While striving to become a world-class green industry group, GEM has also promoted the localization of metallurgical technology, technical talent, and intellectual property in Indonesia. This effort aims to establish scientific research centers and train high-level metallurgical engineering and technology talents in Indonesia, thereby benefiting Indonesia through Chinese technology and education, supporting Indonesia’s electrification development, and creating a new chapter in China-Indonesia technological and cultural exchanges.
