On the evening of May 24, 2025, local time in Jakarta, Premier Li Qiang of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China attended the China-Indonesia Business Reception together with Indonesian President Prabowo and delivered a speech. Around 200 representatives from the business communities of China and Indonesia were present. Professor Xu Kaihua, Chairman of GEM Co., Ltd., was invited to attend.

Noting that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of China-Indonesia diplomatic ties and the 70th anniversary of the Bandung Conference, Premier Li Qiang said that more than seven decades ago, the world stood at a historical crossroads. Amid global discord and confrontation, China and Indonesia, together with other Asian and African nations, gathered in Bandung and forged the Bandung Spirit of solidarity, friendship and cooperation, which has played a pivotal role in advancing South-South cooperation and steering the world toward positive development. Today, more than seven decades later, the world is once again at a critical crossroads. He called on both sides to follow the general trend of historical progress, adhere to seeking common ground while reserving differences and peaceful coexistence, resolve differences through consultation, promote win-win results through cooperation, and achieve development and prosperity through joint construction and shared benefits. Looking ahead, there is vast room and bright prospects for China-Indonesia cooperation.

Premier Li Qiang noted that China and Indonesia have consistently upheld the Bandung Spirit in advancing all-round practical cooperation. Premier Li Qiang expressed his hope that the business communities of China and Indonesia would enhance connectivity, take proactive measures to expand cooperation, deepen industrial integration, uphold free trade, yield more fruitful outcomes across all areas of bilateral collaboration and become practitioners and promoters of friendly cooperation.

Prabowo, for his part, said that the relationship between Indonesia and China is one of the most strategic and promising bilateral relations in the 21st century. He added that Chinese enterprises are welcome to continue to invest and do business in Indonesia and broaden the scope of cooperation.

Before the dinner, Premier Li Qiang and President Prabowo jointly visited a commemorative exhibition marking the 70th anniversary of the Bandung Conference and an exhibition of the achievements of economic and trade cooperation between China and Indonesia.

Two key achievements—the PT. ESG project, supported by GEM’s technology, which is the world’s first full industrial chain from laterite nickel ore to new energy materials, and the jointly invested “China-Indonesia Joint Research Laboratory for New Energy Materials and Metallurgy Technology” by GEM, Bandung Institute of Technology, and Central South University—were showcased at the China-Indonesia Economic and Trade Cooperation Exhibition and observed by the two heads of state.
